The future bride is the daughter of Stephen and Karen Bristle of Ann Arbor. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1993, earning a bachelor's degree in family and community services. She is employed as a relationship manager with KeyBank in Ypsilanti.

The future groom is the son of Robert and Carol Blakeney of Ithaca, N.Y. He graduated from Cornell University in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and in 1995 added a master's degree in biomedical engineering from the State University of New York in Buffalo. He is employed as a research and development engineer at Terumo Cardiovascular Systems in Ann Arbor.

He surprised his bride-to-be with the engagement while atop the 10,000-foot Mount San Jacinto.

They plan to marry in Saline.
