Drunk Driving

A 50-year-old Chelsea man was arrested for drunken driving at about 9 p.m. Feb. 4 by Saline police.
The man was driving west on Willis Road, near Ann Arbor Street, when he ran through a stop sign and drove into the yard of a house on the 8700 block of Ann Arbor Street.
He also hit a city fire hydrant and crashed into a large rock in the yard. The rock flattened the front passenger tire, according to police reports.
The owner of the house came outside when he heard the vehicle crash into the rock. When the driver saw the man, he put the vehicle into reverse and backed into the homeowner's truck. The homeowner then called police.
The man stopped at a house in the 9800 block of Ann Arbor St. to change his tire. The police confronted him at the house, according to reports. He refused a breath test. The officer also found marijuana in the pocket of the driver's-side door.
The man faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, property damage, hit-and-run and marijuana possession.
Saline police arrested a 23-year-old Naples, Fla., woman at about 3 a.m. Jan. 27 when they caught her driving 47 mph in a 30-mph zone on North Maple Road near Thibault Lane.
As the vehicle approached Maplewood Drive, it rapidly slowed down, according to a police report. The officer stopped the driver, and noticed her eyes were watery and bloodshot. The officer could also smell alcohol on her breath.
A preliminary breath test revealed her blood-alcohol level to be 0.16 percent, which is more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She was arrested and lodged at the Saline Police Department.
Saline police officers arrested a 58-year-old Ann Arbor man for drunken driving at about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 18 after catching him speeding along Michigan Avenue.
Officers followed the man and clocked his vehicle traveling 55 mph in a 45-mph zone. He then crossed into a 35-mph zone traveling 50 mph, according to a police report.
The man's vehicle reportedly crossed the double-yellow line numerous times. When stopped near North Harris Street, the officer questioned the driver and noticed the man's eyes were red and watery. The officer also smelled alcohol on the man's breath.
A preliminary breath test revealed the man had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18, which is more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The man was lodged at the Saline Police Department.
A 46-year-old Saline Township man was arrested the afternoon of Jan. 20 by Saline police after officers saw him leave a Speedway gas station without stopping to look for traffic. The officer followed the man to Willis Road and South Ann Arbor Street, where the man was arrested.
While an officer followed the driver, he reportedly witnessed the man driving on the wrong side of the road on Harris Street. The man's vehicle nearly struck a number of cars parked on the street, according to a police report.
As the man approached South Ann Arbor Street from Pleasant Ridge Drive, he drove his car onto the median and over the curb. He then turned south on South Ann Arbor Street, where he reportedly crossed the double-yellow line and drove down the middle of the road.
When the officer spoke with the driver, he reported smelling alcohol on the man's breath, according to the report. A preliminary breath test revealed the man had a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent, which is considered legally drunk under state law.
The man was lodged at the Saline Police Department until he was released on personal recognizance.
Larceny
A 20-year-old employee at the Saline Recreation Center reported that her debit card had been stolen from her purse between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25. The employee is a lifeguard at the center. She left her purse in the unlocked pool office.
