The Michigan Merit Examination is the state assessment administered to all eleventh graders March 11, 12 and 13.
On Tuesday, March 11, only juniors will attend school. On March 12 and 13, ninth, tenth and twelfth graders will have a half day of school, starting later in the day at 12 noon with a regular dismissal time.
The MME consists of three major components: the ACT college entrance examination, the WorkKeys job skills assessments in reading and mathematics, and Michigan assessments in mathematics, science, social studies and persuasive writing.
The combined MME assessment measures student learning in the Michigan high school standards, benchmarks and core content expectations. Students will then have a regular ACT score report they can use to apply to a college or a university and may use the MME to qualify for a Michigan Promise scholarship to help pay for tuition to a state university, community college or technical or trade school.
Saline High School food service staff will provide lunch for juniors and for students who cannot arrange alternative transportation on Tuesday and Wednesday and ride the bus to school at the regularly schedule morning time. These students who cannot arrange a ride to school by 12 noon on Tuesday and Wednesday should report to the Commons for attendance and for directions. They may then remain in the Commons or report to the Media Center or to the gym or organized activities. Ninth, tenth and twelfth grade students will attend block one and two classes on Wednesday afternoon and block three and four classes on Thursday afternoon.
In order to ensure the integrity of the testing environment, students may not enter or exit the building after 8:00 a.m. on the three testing days.
Students or parents with questions may contact interim assistant principal Brad Bezeau at 429-8031or bezeab@saline.k12.mi.us.
