MELVIN KLOEPPER
Lake Wylie, S.C.
Melvin Herman Kloepper, 88, of Lake Wylie, S.C., died Feb. 18, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born June 10, 1919, in Sparta, Ill., son of the late Henry and Hulda Tietje Kloepper Globensky.
Mr. Kloepper was a graduate of Sparta High School in Sparta, Ill., a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and eceived the Asiatic Pacific Area Victory Metal and the American Area Campaign Metal.
Mr. Kloepper was a plumber by trade, retiring in 1976, a former councilman and mayor of Milan, a member of American Legion Post 0268 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include wife of more than 66 years, Mildred Gould Kloepper; daughters, Esther (Roger) Reckling of Lake Wylie, S.C., Betty Luttrell of Texas and Karen (Mike) Davis of Delaware, Ohio; sister, Myldred Hurley of Ballwin, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hulda Ohms and Paula Lillard.
Interment will be private at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C.

JUSTINE ANN STARK
Naples, Fla.
Justine Ann Stark died peacefully Feb. 19 after a long illness at the age of 77. She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Detroit.
Mrs. Stark married Myron Gene Stark in 1949. She was a loving, generous, wife, mother and grandmother. Her goal in life was to make others happy. She cared for many family members over the years. Her loving and forgiving spirit remains an example and inspiration to her family and friends.
Mrs. Stark moved to Naples in 2004 from Saline to join her son and his family.
She is survived by her son, Donald Stark and his wife, Rebecca (Trevino) Stark, of Naples Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Stark) Smith of Westland, Chris Stark of Ypsilanti and Adam Trevino of Naples, Fla.; great-grandson, Brenden Smith of Westland; sister, Shirley Adams of Michigan; brothers, Art Charlebois of Michigan and Rene Charlebois of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Gene Stark, and her sister, Mary Lucille Leining.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Feb. 23 in Florida. Burial will take place in Detroit at a future date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled, 5621 Strand Blvd., Ste. 309, Naples, FL 34110, to honor her wish that her grandson Adam, who was the light of her life and is disabled, will one day have safe, quality housing options where none exist at the current time.
JANICE ARLEEN McLEAN
Chelsea
Janice Arleen McLean, 80, died Feb. 20, 2008, at the Chelsea Retirement Community with her family by her side. She was born May 30, 1927, in Lima Township, near Chelsea, the daughter of Herman and Ethel (Whipple) Hashley.
Mrs. McLean was a 1945 graduate of Dexter High School, and was employed at the Washtenaw County Clerk's Office for 29 years, retiring in 1993.
On March 26, 1955, she married Donald C. McLean, and he preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1983.
Mrs. McLean was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, and a member of the Saline and Pittsfield senior centers. She greatly enjoyed the opportunity to travel on many bus tours from Hawaii to the New England states. She also enjoyed playing cards and other activities.
Mrs. McLean became a member of the Saline Community Hospital Women's Auxiliary in 1986, volunteering in the gift shop. She was also a member of the Manchester and Saline Red Hat societies.
Survivors include her two daughters and their families, Nancy (Ronald) Kohler of Clinton and their children John and Jenni; and Donna Girbach of Saline and her children, Mitchell and Stacey.
Other survivors include one sister, Joyce Boyce of Chelsea and her three children, along with their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Keith Girbach; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd Boyce.
The family wishes to thank those who cared for Janice, including her sister, Joyce and family; Arbor Hospice; Campus Care; and Dawn Price.
A funeral was held Friday at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. The Rev. Patricia Kenney officiated. Cremation followed the service and burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or the Barbara Ann Karmanos Breast Cancer Institute. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

ARMINE (SAM) F. SCHERDT
Saline
Armine (Sam) F. Scherdt, joined his parents, Theodore (Teddy) Scherdt, Olga Scherdt and brother Carl, in eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He attended Country School and Ann Arbor Public School. Sam served his country during the occupation and victory of Japan in World War II as a sergeant in the Air Force. He had worked a number of years at the Artificial Ice Company and The Old West Side Mill in Ann Arbor as well as employment and retirement from the Chemistry Store and Plant Department for the University of Michigan. He was a resident of Ann Arbor most of his life, retiring in Saline, and had been a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline. Sam leaves behind his wife of 42 years Barbara, daughter (Walter) Sarah Rice, son Michael, and grandsons Joseph and Maximilian. He was preceded in death by a son Frederick. Visitation will be held at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home of Saline on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and on Monday, Feb., 25, 2008, at the St. Andrew Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of The Resurrection at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. William J. Stevenson Celebrant. Burial will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Andrew Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and at the church.
