Entering his seventh season with the Tigers, Impemba provides studio and on-location reports, interviews and analysis covering the team from training through playoffs.
"It's a deep and talented team and a deep and talented American League this season," Impemba said in welcoming remarks before taking questions.
"We can definitely get excited about this year, but with caution there are a lot of good teams out there."
Chris Kochmanski and his colleagues from DesignHub attended the luncheon and pitched Impemba a few pointed queries about Miguel Cabrara, the new power-hitting third basemen and his ability to play left field to get Brandon Inge back to third.
"Mario picked up on this leading question and pointed out that the Tigers' platoon of Jacque Jones and Marcus Thames, combined with Cabrera playing third, would produce more offense than a combination of Cabrara in left field and Inge at third," said Kochmanski who also inquired about fireball pitcher Joel Zumaya's recovery.
Impemba explained Zumaya has begun throwing again, a bit ahead of the expected schedule, but the Tigers believe the soonest he can be available to pitch is July at the earliest.
The luncheon was sponsored by The Saline Reporter, which awarded a free display ad to raffle winner and chamber member Bemis Farms Preschool.
Impemba's tips and talk, courtesy of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, will be available soon to view on the Saline Community Television cable station.
Upcoming events for the chamber are the Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt and Coloring Contest March 22, Building Business Relationships Breakfast March 25 and Saline Salutes April 18.
