Drunken Driving

Saline police arrested a 20-year-old Tecumseh man at about 12:30 a.m. March 14. A Speedway employee informed police of an intoxicated man leaving the store.
The officer began following the man's vehicle at Harris and Henry streets and witnessed the man's vehicle drift left of the center lane twice once near Lewis Street and once on Monroe Street. The man initially gave the officer a credit card instead of his identification, according to police reports.
A breath test revealed the man's blood-alcohol level to be 0.17 percent, which is more than the state's legal limit of 0.08. He was lodged at the Saline Police Department until released on a personal recognizance bond.
A 40-year-old Manchester Township man was arrested at about 1:50 a.m. March 20 by Saline police for suspiciion of drunken driving. The man was driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone on Michigan Avenue when he was stopped, according to police reports.
The officer stopped the man near Austin Road. The officer reported smelling alcohol on the man's breath and saw an open liquor bottle on the floor behind the passenger seat.
The driver refused a breath test. He was arrested and taken to the Saline Police Department. A Breathalizer later showed he had a 0.08 percent blood-alcohol level. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond.
Larceny
A backpack was stolen from a family vehicle while the family was attending a sporting event at Saline Middle School between 7:30 and 11 p.m. March 15, according to police reports. Police have no suspects.
Assault
A 25-year-old Saline woman told police she was assaulted by another 25-year-old Saline woman and her boyfriend at about 1 p.m. March 20 in the 400 block of Spring Street. The victim was looking after some items for the other woman's boyfriend, according to police reports, when the assaulted took place. No charges are being sought at this time, police said.
