"We want to encourage people to eat healthy, stay fit and have fun all year around," said Lindsey Stewart, facility manager for Saline Parks and Recreation.
The pool and all the work-out areas at the center will be open, with free admission for anyone wishing to tour and use the equipment and facility from noon to 6 p.m. Memberships also will be offered at a 10 percent discount during the Fun, Food and Fitness Fair.
Nurses and staff from University of Michigan MFit, St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital and local chiropractors will be on hand to administer some basic tests to help visitors chart a path for healthier living.
Also, door prizes, including a bicycle donated by Saline Area Schools Food Service, gift certificates from Busch's ValuLand, fitness retailers Tortoise and Hare and Running Fit as well as guest passes to Planet Rock, will be given away.
Walkers from Pick Up the Pace Saline will be on hand to share details of upcoming walks and about the linear trails that wind throughout the community. Free massages, fitness classes and activities for children also will be offered.
The event is sponsored by University of Michigan Health System's MFit Health Promotion Division and Saline Parks and Recreation.
