Hospital gets new leaders

St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital has a new leadership team in place.

Kathleen Rhine of Saline has been named chief operating officer for St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital and vice president of administrative services for St. Joseph Mercy Health System. She will have overall responsibility for the hospital system's southern region strategies and operations.
In her new role, Rhine will be responsible for strategic planning and implementation, strategic market development and development of growth strategies.
She is a member of the health system's executive management team and has been involved in the strategic planning for St. Joseph Mercy Health System through her work with the facilities plan and the introduction of the Acute Care for the Elderly program for senior citizens at Saline.
Dr. George Williams will serve as physician chairman for growth and will be responsible for physician relations, growth of clinical programs, as well as working with medical staff leaders on clinical quality improvement, according to a news release from the hospital. Williams is an active member of the Saline medical staff and will continue to serve as medical director of the award-winning emergency department.
Barb Fielder will serve as operations director for St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital and will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of management staff, problem solving, customer service, financial performance and community relations. She has been with the Saline facility for 19 years and previously served as interim executive director. Her leadership of the Saline management team will continue, according to the press release.
"I am confident that these individuals, working together, will provide the leadership and support to continue Saline hospital's excellent in-patient care and will implement the growth strategies for inpatient, surgery, emergency services and further development of the Imaging Center and Community Health Pavilion," said Garry C. Faja, president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Health System.
"This new structure, with its interdependent roles of physician, strategic and operational leadership, will be effective in fostering innovation, success and service to the health system's southern region."
