Saline Police Chief Paul Bunten and Deputy Chief Jack Ceo will be among a crew of local celebrities who will be waiting tables during a fundraiser dinner for St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital April 17.
"We wanted to do something to support the hospital's expansion so decided to host this special spring dinner where politicians and community leaders wait tables for tips," said Bob Rash, co-owner of Mac's. "We hope the community will join us in supporting one of this city's greatest assets Saline hospital."
Others donning aprons and carrying trays will be Mayor Gretchen Driskell, Fire Chief Craig Hoeft, City Manager Todd Campbell, School Superintendent Scot Graden, Sen. Randy Richardville and Congressman Tim Wahlberg.
Sports fans will want to be seated at tables served by University of Michigan hockey assistant head coach Mel Pearson, U of M track and field coach Ron Warhurst or former Detroit Lion Barry Stokes.
Dr. Richard Biel of Saline hospital also will be working at Mac's during the dinner.
Gratuities and a portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the fund for the community health pavilion at Saline hospital. The new pavilion will house the clinical laboratory and nearly completed imaging center for state-of-the-art diagnostic services, and a larger community room for educational forums and events.
The cost is $50 per person and reservations are required by calling 944-6227. The restaurant will be closed for dinner April 17 during the fundraiser.
