Roy Sexton of Saline plays Robert in the Stephen Sondheim musical, a sophisticated comedy focusing on Robert, a charming single New Yorker who thinks he has everything -- friends, family life, and all the girls he could want.
But as the audience views snippets of his life and interactions with various married friends, it sees that Robert realizes he's missing something. It may just be that committing to someone is what makes life worth living.
The colorful cast ranges from neurotic to funny and introspective to manipulative.
"The music is ingenious in its writing, lyrics and arrangement. Done correctly, the show makes you laugh while looking inside to examine your own motives for relationships," director Len Fisher said in a news release.
Written by George Furth, with music and lyrics by Steven Sondheim, "Company" premiered on Broadway in 1970 and was revived in 2006.
"It's not performed that often any more, but it still has such resonance in our go-go-go lives," Sexton said. "How people connect meaningfully is such a core theme to this piece that I think audiences will find revelatory."
Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for senior citizens and children. For show times and tickets, call 1-734-394-5300 or visit www.spotlightplayers.net.
