More than 50 applicants applied for the post that will be open when Jean Durst retires at the end of the school year.
Durst became principal in February as part of a three-way shuffle that saw David Raft reassigned to the principal position at Saline Middle School to replace a retiring Nic Cooper.
Durst, the former Saline High School principal, was the executive director of high school community affairs and public relations.
Raft, who has been with the district for 13 years, oversaw the opening of Harvest Elementary School as its first principal. She also was principal at Woodland Meadows for a year.
In searching for a new leader, administrators winnowed down the 50 or applicants to nine for interviews. Eight accepted, said Saline Superintendent Scot Graden.
Interviews will be conducted April 30 and May 1, at which time the field will be reduced to three.
The three final candidates will return for a second round of interviews, which will be open to parents and staff, Graden said.
Two candidates will be recommended to Graden for his final selection.
Among the applicants, only one is from inside the district. Woodland Meadows teacher Mary Ellen Moyski, who has been with the district since 1990, has applied for the post.
