LaCrosse Tournament will be held at the Saline High School stadium, 1300 Campus Parkway. Friday games begin at 4:30 p.m., Saturday games begin at noon and Sunday games begin at noon. Tickets are $7 per day, $12 for two days and $15 for three days. Tickets may be purchased at the gate during the tournament or in advance at Saline Community Education. "Planting and Pruning" is the title of the talk Dan Riddle will give 6:30 p.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Waterworks Road, in Saline as part of a gardening series. Riddle, owner of Lodi Farms Nursery in Ann Arbor, will present a hands-on, interactive pruning and planting workshop to kick off the Friday night free gardening series. Boating safety will be offered by Saline Community Education. The class is for children ages 12 and older. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Liberty School. The fee is $15. Call 429-8020 to reserve a spot.

Stress Management Group will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Still Waters Counseling, 137 Keveling Drive, in Saline. Meditation will be introduced as a tool for stress management. Call 944-3446 for more information.

Saline Youth Council will present its annual Parking Lot Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per parking space at the Saline Recreation Center. "Driver's Education Part II" will be offered by Saline Community Education. Students who have completed "Driver's Education Part I" within 90 days of this class and are 15 years and 9 months old before the first day of class may enroll in this three-day class. The Saline High School Jazz Band will perform 7:30 p.m. at the Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center. The concert also will feature the Paul Keller Jazz Ensemble.

Wednesday, May 14

ACT Prep Workshop will be offered by Saline Community Education. The workshop will prepare students to take the ACT test by showing them the format and types of questions to expect. The workshop runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Liberty School. The fee is $60. Register by calling 429-8020.

Poppy Days will be held in the city of Saline. The American Legion Auxiliary will sell poppies on the sidewalks and at local businesses as a fundraiser. Contributions are used to help hospitalized and disabled veterans in need of rehabilitation and financial assistance.

"Lunch & Learn" Luncheon will be presented 11 a.m. by Saline Area Chamber of Commerce at Brecon Village in Saline. Mark H. Clevey, a spokesman and advocate for small businesses in Michigan, will be the featured speaker. The luncheon is sponsored by DiggyPOD. "Herbs of the Bible" will be presented 6:30 p.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Waterworks Road, in Saline. Jane Riddle, co-owner of Lodi Farms Nursery, will present an interactive, fast-paced presentation of approximately 25 herbs, including the Bible verses and how the herbs are used around the world. The Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program is holding a regional environmental clean-up day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saline Department of Works. It will be a drop-off that will accept recyclable materials, appliances, household hazard waste, furniture, tires and electronic equipment. Household garbage will not be accepted. City of Saline Patrick J. Little Public Works facility is located at 1234 Tefft Court.

MILAN

Thursday, May 1

Family Science Night at Milan Middle School will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sixth-grade projects will be displayed in the school library, and seventh- and eighth-grade projects will be in the competition gym. The Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum will lead mini-labs in the gym. Volunteers are needed. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. for training on the mini-lab. Opening Day 5K kicks off Discover Milan Day. The Milan High School Development Office is hosting the second annual 5K Run/Walk at 7:50 a.m. The entry fee is $20, but racers and walker teams may choose to obtain sponsors in lieu of paying the fee. T-shirts will be available for the first 200 registrants. Entry forms and/of sponsorship forms will be available online at the event Web site www.milan5k.com or from Roberta Myyra at 439-5056. Proceeds will benefit the Milan Complex Capital Campaign.

Rubber Ducky Race will be held during Discover Milan Day. The Athletic Development Office at Milan High School is organizing a Rubber Ducky Race on the Saline River to be held at 2 p.m. Ducks are $5 each and are available before May 3 at the Lighthouse CafÈ and Milan Floral. Representatives will be selling ducks on Main Street before the Milan Youth League Parade and during the ball games in Wilson Park.
