ARNOLD JAMES BLACK

Lake Columbia, Brooklyn

Arnold James "Arnie" Black, 59, died May 20, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Ypsilanti to James H. and Madeline Black. On April 24, 1970, he married Jane A. Rybarsyk at St. Francis Church in Ann Arbor.

Mr. Black worked as a carpenter, and was a member of Dixboro United Methodist Church and St. Andrew Catholic Church. He lived in Saline for more than 30 years and was an avid fan of Saline High School volleyball, where his daughters played, and remained a fan after they graduated and played at Eastern Michigan University.

Surviving are his wife, Jane; daughters, Nicole Black, Angela (Dewey) Scott and Danielle (Dane) Dresch; grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Scott, and Brady Dresch; and brothers, Steve and Roger Black.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave., in Ann Arbor. Doyle Garrett will officiate.

The family received friends at the funeral from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be directed to "Arnie's Army", American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Dexter.
