Stingrays come close to win

The Saline Stingrays came about as close as you could come to a win in their June 28 meet against Dexter Community Aquatics Club, but fell just short, 403-398.

The Stingray coaches were anything but disappointed, however.
"It was a very close meet. We were missing a lot of swimmers," said coach Pat Wickering. "But the swimmers that were there still swam great times."
"I really enjoyed swimming at the Dexter meet," said swimmer Sara Szafranski. "It was my second meet ever and I got my first heat winner."
Highlights from the boys' 8-and-younger division included Michael MacGillivray, Adam Whitton, Santiago Arenas and Robbie Amori (1:29.94, first) in the 100-yard medley relay; MacGillivray (16.81, first) and Arenas (17.11, second) in the 25 freestyle; MacGillivray (24.71, first) and Whitton (27.73, second) in the 25 breaststroke; and Whitton, Aidan Carichner, Grant Santos and Santiago Arenas (1:26.13, first), and William Kelly, Edward Wang, Ian Greene and Alexander Dennis (1:45.71, second) in the 100 freestyle relay.
Highlights from the 8-and-younger girls' division included Lauren Galloway, Francesca Panzica, Maxine Taylor and Cassandra Anderson (1:29.31, first) in the 100 medley relay; Taylor (16.21, first) in the 25 freestyle; Galloway (23.90) in the 25 breaststroke; and Taylor, Galloway, Anderson and Panzica (1:17.93, first) in the 100 freestyle.
Highlights from the boys' 9-10 division included Alex Calder, Evan Koerschner, Layeth Sweidan and Theodore Eppinga (1:18.98, second) in the 100 medley relay; Calder (48.13, first) in the 50 breaststroke; and Calder, Koerschner, Sweidan and Eppinga (2:24.75, second) in the 200 freestyle.
Highlights from the girls' 9-10 division included Alexandra Arenas, Megan Scott, Allison Eppinga and Kelsey Holberg (1:12.61, first) in the 100 medley relay; Arenas (33.74, second) in the 50 freestyle; Eppinga (42.99, first) and Holmberg (46.85, second) in the 50 breaststroke; and Holmberg, Arenas, Scott and Eppinga (2:20.70, first) in the 200 freestyle.
Highlights from the boys' 11-12 division included Simon Rucinski, Mark Whitton, Stephen Amori and Brennan Corcoran (2:41.06, second) in the 200 medley relay; and Matthew Bartow, Ethan Johnson, Brian Picknell and Seena Sauber (2:41.40, second) in the 200 freestyle.
Highlights from the girls' 11-12 division included Elizabeth Brightman, Sophie Brigthman, Samantha Winchester and Victoria Arenas (2:19.22, first) in the 200 medley relay; Winchester (28.80, first) in the 50 freestyle; Sophie Brightman (41.39, second) in the 50 breaststroke; and Winchester, Brightman, Brightman, and Arenas (2:05.95, first) in the 200 freestyle relay.
Highlights from the boys' 13-14 division included Louie Remenapp (25.76, second) in the 50 freestyle; Remenapp (36.14, first) in the 50 breaststroke; and Austin Deal, Sasha Seuber, Daniel Goldstein and Remenapp (2:05.68, second) in the 200 freestyle relay.
Highlights from the boys' 15-17 division included Daniel Furey (25.70, first) in the 50 freestyle; and Furey (32.88, first) in the 50 breaststroke.
Highlights from diving included Robbie Amori (59.2, first), Michael MacGillivray (second, 52.4) and Aidan Carichner (51.3, third) in boys' 8-and-younger; Lauren Galloway (56.3, first), Francesca Panzica (51.6, second) and Maxine Taylor (45.1, third) in girls' 8-and-younger; Alex Calder (87.15, first), Matthew Lougheed (75.4, second) and Ben Johnson (70.4, third) in boys' 9-10; Ethan Johnson (97.5, first) in boys' 11-12; Victoria Arenas (101.95, first) in girls' 11-12; Daniel Goldstein (144.85, second) in boys' 13-14; and Carolyn Peterson (team-record 125.45, first) in 13-14 girls.
