The Saline Varsity Football team will kick off their season Aug. 27 against Northville.
But it won't be a home game for either team.
The Hornets will take on the Mustangs in Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium as part of the Big Day Prep Showdown, which is sponsored by the Detroit Metro Sports Commission, WXYT-AM (1270), and the Detroit Free Press.
"Our kids are already calling it our Kickoff Classic," said Saline's football coach Mike Glennie.
Four prep football games will take place as part of the Showdown: Saline and Northville will face off first at noon; Allen Park and Trenton will play at 2:30 p.m., Lake Orion and Troy at 5 p.m. and Novi and Chelsea at 7:30 p.m.
One ticket is good for all four games. Advance tickets may be purchased through Saline Community Education, Sports Shack and the Saline High School Athletic Department. Discounted advance tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students. Children six and under are free. Tickets at the gate will be $10.
Advance tickets will also be sold Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. outside TCF Bank and Busch's Valu Land.
