"Wheel Throwing 101" will be offered by Saline Community Education. Learn the basic steps to throw a form on the potter's wheel. Cost for the class includes tools, glaze and 25 pounds of clay. No prior experience is necessary. Adult classes meet from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday at Saline High School. The fee is $55. Saturday, Sept. 19

Donations are being accepted through Friday for the Kiwanis Rummage Sale. Call 944-2301 to arrange drop off. Items being accepted are books, toys, sporting goods, household items, small furniture and appliances, electronics, and children's clothing and shoes.

Saturday, Sept. 20

Friends of the Saline District Library will hold a book sale from 10 to 4 p.m. at Saline District Library, 555 N. Maple Road.

Youth Missions Rummage Sale will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a fundraiser at First United Methodist Church of Saline. Items will be sold at $6 per bag. All proceeds benefit youth missions. For more information, call 429-4730.

Sunday, Sept. 21

Henne Field Day will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at East Bennett Street between North Ann Arbor Street and Harris Street. The event will kick off fundraising to renovate the old athletic field into a rejuvenated community space. At 2 p.m., a ceremonial walk will be held behind Union School. There will be free hot dogs, ice cream, snacks, live music from the Saline Big Band, barbershop quartet and antique cars. At 3 p.m., there will be a vintage baseball game. Sunday, Sept. 21

Two Twelve Artist of the Month Artist Reception will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. The Artist of the Month is Barbara Yerace, and she will showcase collaborative works with Val Mann. The show is called "Elevation and Transformations, Exploring the Creative Process of Glass, Sculpture and Paint." It will feature a poetry reading by David Stringer from his new book "Inhale/Exhale." The exhibit runs through Sept. 25 at 212 W. Michigan Ave.

Tuesday, Sept. 23

Building Business Relationships Breakfast will be held 7:30 a.m. at Brecon Village, 200 Brecon Drive. The cost is $11 for chamber members and $13 prospective members. Speakers will be Katherine Mills of Ann Arbor Radio, Tammie King of Bemis Farms Preschool and Larry Whitworth of Washtenaw Community College. "Watercolors" will be offered by Saline Community Education. The class is designed for beginners and experienced artists alike. Class will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Saline Senior Center. The fee is $60. Seniors 60 years and older may be eligible for a 50 percent discount. Saturday, Sept. 27

Harvest Time on the Farm will feature entertainment, food, children's activities, wagon rides and more. Adult admission is $1 for adults. Park at Sauk Trail. Michigan Ave., one mile east of downtown Saline.

Harvest of the Arts will featured an all-day juried art fair, quilt show at Trinity Lutheran Church, children's activities from The Scrapbox and Two Twelve Arts Center, historic walking tour, bake shop from South & West Consortium and Saline High School culinary arts students, chili cook-off, Oktoberfest Bier Garden and live entertainment.

Friends of the Saline District Library book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Saline District Library, 555 N. Maple Road.

Saline Parks and Recreation and Arbor Quest Unlimited is offering a Fall Tree Climbing Clinic at Curtiss Park. The program is for youth and adults ages 9 and older. Participants will learn tree climbing techniques taught by certified tree climb facilitators. Sessions begin at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., lasting two hours each. The cost is $15 per climber. Tuesday, Sept. 30

Saline Area Chamber of Commerce "Lunch & Learn" will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stonebridge Golf Club, 1825 Clubhouse Drive, in Ann Arbor. The speaker is Google's Michael Lorenz, online sales and operations manager. Paid reservations are required by Sept. 24. Call 429-4494.

MILAN

Monday, Sept. 22

Milan Unites will be held 6:30 p.m. at the Milan Senior and Community Activity Center, 45 Neckel Court. The Milan Area Chamber of Commerce will host the second meeting in an attempt to unite all Milan churches and nonprofit organizations. For more in formation, call 429-2904.

Thursday, Sept. 25

The Milan Organization for Regional Excellence will meet 7 p.m. at Milan City Hall. Guest speaker is Michael Finney, president and CEO of Ann Arbor Spark, a nonprofit economic- development organization established in 2005.

Wednesday, Oct. 1

The Milan Area Chamber of Commerce's third annual Taste of Milan will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Milan Senior and Community Activity Center, 45 Neckel Court. The event brings restaurants and caterers from around the Milan area together under one roof and lets hungry patrons sample their specialties. Admission is $10, which includes five "tastes" of a patron's choice. Additional tastes will be available for $1 each. A farmers' market will precede the event. Friday, Sept. 19

Ann Arbor City Club Annual Home Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $17. Call 662-3279 for reservations. A lunch buffet will be served. Cost is $18. Saturday, Sept. 27

Ann Arbor VFW Post 423 Open House will be held at Post 423 at 3230 S. Wagner Road, in Ann Arbor. All area World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Persian Gulf veterans, as well as other veterans who qualify for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, are invited.
