By attending one of the Saline Craft Shows, as many as 10 school organizations benefit.

"We have three craft shows a year, and on average we have about seven to 10 school groups work each craft show," said Brian Puffer, director Saline Community Education and one of the organizers.

"Depending on how many people work for each school group, they get a cut of the admission fees," he said.

On average $2,500 to $4,000 per show is given to school groups that have workers at the shows.

The November craft show will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Saline Middle School, 7190 N. Maple Road.

Event organizer Cheryl Hoeft said about 250 crafters are expected to showcase and sell their work.

There will be decorative painting, stoneware, rugs, birdhouses, holiday decorating ideas, ceramics, calligraphy and clothing for sale.

"All of these products are designed, made and displayed by the individual crafters and available at affordable prices," she said.

Plus, artists from 14 states and 155 Michigan cities will be present at their booths.

For people who have visited the show before, there will be 54 new crafters, Hoeft said.

Last year, more than 10,000 customers attended the show.

Some of the visitors have attended for multiple years. Saline residents Marta Learman, and her mother, Von Schnegelsberg, have attended the Saline Craft Show for more than 10 years, Hoeft said.

"When we learn of the dates for the following year, we immediately mark our calendars," Learman said.

In recent years, the following groups have benefited from working at the event: Future Farmers of America, Saline High School football team, Saline High School girls' and boys' cross country teams, Model United Nations, Saline High School girls' and boys' tennis teams, Saline Destination Imagination, Saline High School baseball team, Saline High School classes of 2009 and 2010, Saline High School choir, Saline Area Schools para-educators, Saline High School boys' wrestling team and Saline High School lacrosse.

Students from these groups work at a concession stand, bake sale and assist with other activities at the craft shows.

The admission charge is $3 at the door with presale tickets available at Saline Community Education and the Historic Union School, 200 North Ann Arbor St.

"We request that due to crowded conditions, no strollers please," Hoeft said.
